Food Revolution #358 – Adam’s Spaghetti Bolognese

Just a week to go! Was dead excited to make this. Browned the mince, loads of seasoning, then in goes a bog standard tomato ragu – makes more sense when you’re gonna play around with it! In goes two spoons of Marmite, a half bar of dark chocolate, some chilli powder, touch of lemon juice, a handful of dried basil and a glug of red wine. Really beautiful and thick, and rich too – piled high on some peppered spaghetti and the world disappeared into my spag bol…

Curry was great, flavour mild and subtle but good. Not a lot eaten – blame the dodgy stomach…..

Best meal yet. I had the Alaskan Salmon, with a Merlot and herb butter. Amazingly good, beautiful flavour. The blackened flesh had so much charcoal flavour, that just dripped in BBQ ethos. Bang on tonight.

Well well well, it finally arrived. And I couldn’t not Food Rev on our big night out! Goat’s cheese croquettes to begin – dry and crumbly, and not nice at all. But the pesto oil and mango salsa was gorgeous. Chicken with dauphinoise potatoes and asparagus was lovely – the ‘jus’ with it was best bit of the whole meal. That was finished with lemon mousse and a coulis of some form. All washed down with an obscene amount of alcohol. You only live once…

‘Lovely service Vicar’ rang through my head all day. And what a day to be British. Big street party tonight, so was time for a BBQ. Sausages, burgers, chicken thighs, and a carvery gone half nine with the best pork I’ve ever tasted. Top day.

Food Revolution #218 – Sloppy Joes

A very British take on Sloppy Joes. Made up a beasty BBQ sauce – garlic, fennel, chilli, onions, lime juice and other titbits, and then fiend off some mince into it alongside some beef stock. In a roll, and done. Very sweet, and filling, but really, really nice.

Theme night! Was good too – despite lunch at half 3. Nachos, fajitas and tacos, and I also enjoyed some breados and butterita. Or bread and butter to me and you.

There is nothing better than Mum’s homemade steak pie. I’ve decided that if I’m ever put on Death Row, this is my final meal. Amazin’.

That’s a curry, to me or you. Was beautiful – the mint and ginger really came through. Went down well with a bottle of beer. Or two. Maybe three…

Food Revolution #44 – Pizza Express Richmond

We went to the new Pizza Express in Richmond. It was, quite frankly, amazing. Filomena, out waitress, was lovely – helpful, friendly, and knew everything. The place was airy, very family-orientated, light, bright, had a pizza bar, dimmed lights, and showed films while you waited. Was brilliant.

To start, we had the Rosemary Pizza Bread, which was really good. Isobel didn’t like it too much, but I love garlic, so was my cup of tea. Then I had the Pollo ad Astra, which was covered by me in chilli oil, and black pepper, and was just lovely. Even Is liked it – and she hates spicy food. Finally I had the Nutella Dough Balls – a new dish, but worked so well with my Dolcetti Machiatto. If you want to go, do it. I can promise you, you won’t regret it, and I for one cannot wait till this hits my local Pizza Express.
